Kids Hockey Gear

When purchasing hockey gear for your kids, make sure you pay close attention to the requirements of the league your son or daughter plays in. All youth hockey players are required to wear helmets meeting the approval of the Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC). Protective padding, gloves, stick and skates, all sized for kids, will make up the rest of your investment.

When purchasing pads for kids, make sure they fit properly and are not too big. It is tempting to leave a lot of growing room but pads that don't fit properly don't protect properly. Buy a spare mouthpiece, because they are easy to lose. A protective cup is a must for all kids.

Get the Right Sized Skates
When purchasing hockey skates for your child, it is of utmost importance to make sure the skates are not too big. While you may want to leave some "growing room" for your child, the extra space can actually cause harm to your child's foot and/or ankle. The child's toe should reach the end of the skate with just enough room to slide your forefinger into the boot at the heel. If skates become too tight as your child grows, have them stretched at your local skate shop.

At Hockey Empire, we know it can be expensive to upgrade your child's hockey gear as he/she grows out of it each year. We offer you the lowest prices available in the U.S. to ease the difficulty of constantly purchasing new equipment. We even offer free shipping on orders over $150 to make purchasing gear as painless as possible. Buy all of the gear required by local kids' leagues at hockeyempire.com.
